Born in England, Jane studied drawing, painting and graphic design in Ontario at Sheridan College and University of Toronto and followed her passion for teaching with a long career as the head of Design and Graphics at the New Brunswick College of Art and Design. Jane's sense of humour made her a favourite with her students for over 32 years. Currently Jane is a full-time artist, combining paint and mixed media techniques to create unique paintings. Jane also lectures and gives workshops in painting techniques, in North America, France and Italy.
“Restraint” has never been one of my strong suits, so with creative play and a sense of humour I forge ahead with any canvas or paper daring to cross my path. The landscape takes on a whole new meaning, as I extract a sense, a feeling, a reaction to what I am looking at. The painting becomes a visual narrative; the image embraces my sometimes unorthodox approach, using a collection of mixed media, including acrylic, watercolour or gold and silver foils.
